My Experience With Hair Rebonding: DAY 1

Okay! After months of deliberating, I finally took the plunge and decided to get my hair rebonded. People around me had many good and bad experiences to share. I decided I wanted my personal experience. I was very bored with my typical layered hair style.

I read up several articles a night before. They prepared me for the procedure. What I was not prepared for was the number of hours I would have to spend sitting in a chair and straining my neck! I arrived at the salon at 10.30 am and left at 4.30 pm. PHEW!! PHEW AGAIN!!

Here is what the hair stylist did:

1. My hair was shampooed twice (I had applied henna a week ago. The stylist really frowned at the mention of henna, but then I had not known I would be doing this a week ago).

2. A hair relaxant was applied to small sections of the hair. I had to wait for two hours! And oh! the smell and fumes of the relaxant gave me a headache :(

3. The hair was rinsed and blow dried.

4. My hair was straightened using a flat iron.

5. A keratin lotion was applied and kept for 15 minutes.

6. The hair was rinsed and blow dried.

7. A hair serum was applied and my hair was thoroughly brushed.

The stylist told me to do the following:

1. Not wash my hair for the next three days. I cant tie or bend my hair in any manner.

2. Use a professional shampoo and conditioner meant for chemically treated hair.

3. Get a hair spa after three weeks.

The stylist used products from Matrix. It's been a few hours and I am loving my soft, silky, shiny hair! I will keep you posted!!

This book is not about time management but about how individuals and cultures perceive and adapt to time. The difference between our internal biological clock and the external mechanical time greatly affects our lives. The post-industrial society is moving at a fast space where we are forced to multitask and race against time and to pack in a lot more in the day. This is against the natural rhythm and timing of our physical selves. Hoffman's narrative is very arresting. The book is not light reading but is totally unputdownable!

DIY: The Not-So-Decorative-Yet-Functional Earring Box

Hello hello hello!!

I am keeping pretty busy these days and have little time to get ready in the morning. So, these past couple of days, I had been dressing up in a hurry. I realised that my frugal earring collection had been lying dumped in a small packet somewhere in my almirah. Who wanted to take it out every morning? So yesterday, right before bed time, I took out five minutes (not a minute more!) and  created a functional space to make my earrings easily accessible in the morning.

The box doesn't really look pretty, but it does the job. I used a very small cardboard box, a shoe lace and a couple of nails.

I am sure one of these days, I will find time to dress up this box, But, till then I am pretty happy with it.

Loads of love!!

REVIEW: Maybelline Super Stay 14 HR Lipstick in Keep Me Coral

I wanted to add a coral to my lipstick collection and I ended up buying the Maybelline Super Stay Lipstick in Keep Me Coral.

Here is what I feel about the product.

The product comes in a transparent tube with a white cap. For a product that costs quite a bit, the packaging does not seem to do any justice. We Maybelline loyalists will buy the product, nevertheless.

The product is priced at Rs. 575 for 3.3 gms, not bad for a long-wear lipstick!

The shade is beautiful, just what I wanted. The product glided smoothly on my lips. I was actually expecting it to be quite dry.

I was not very impressed with the  staying power of the lipstick though. It did not live up to the 14 hour claim. It stayed on for about 6-8 hours, which is pretty good!

  • Pretty coral shade
  • Beautiful, glittery finish, perfect for the day or for nighttime wear
  • Smells fruity
  • Adds moisture to the lips, feels like a lip balm

  • Does not stay for 14 hours
  • Once the colour wears off, it leaves behind glitter on the lips

4 out of 5!

Once you choose a college, take a breather. College is a great time for fun, and also for bringing out your hidden fashionista. It’s a great time to experiment and take fashion risks. While we spend a lot of time and money on clothes, what we usually ignore are the accessories. Infact, accessories can dress up and pep up any outfit.

Comfortable flats

Running from one class to another may not be fun, but it can certainly be a little easy on the feet if you wear comfy shoes. The summer time is great for wearing flats. You can add a couple of cool styles and colours to your closet and mix and match them with various outfits.

REVIEW: Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

Hello people!!

I just bought this gel liner from Maybelline. Many people had recommended this product to me and I finally received my buy a week ago. I wanted to try the product a couple of times before reviewing it.

So, after using it everyday for the past week, here is my honest opinion.

The product is priced at Rs. 450, which seems steep but is quite affordable as compared to the other gel liners in the market.

The product comes in an attractive square-based pot that holds 2.8 gms of the gel liner. You might be dissapointed at the amount of product, but the product quality makes up for that.

The brush has good control and you can use it to create the perfect liner shape without much effort.

The liner is highly pigmented. The product glides over and transfers to your eyelids quite easily. Since I have oily skin, I found that the product did not dry up as fast as I would have liked it to.

the product lasted for a good eighteen hours. I wonder who can verify about the 36-hour claim by Maybelline, though.

I love the product and totally recommend it!!

Hello fellow shopaholics!

I have a couple of favourites when it comes to Indian online shopping websites. Myntra, Jabong and Flipkart make the top of the list. Every few days, when the shopping devil raises its beautiful (not ugly) head, I visit these websites to check out the latest schemes and offers available. I recently discovered this website, zoutons.com that offers discount coupons from top Indian online stores on a single platform. So, I thought I should review it.

Zoutons is a new player that is becoming quite popular among shoppers. First of all, I like the layout. The website is easy to navigate. The home page greets you with attractive offers and popular coupons from various ecommerce majors. This is super-convenient for lazy browsers like me.

You get coupons for merchandise from various stores and belonging to various categories, such as appliances, clothing, cosmetics, home decor and stationery.

The website also offers coupons from various banks such as SBI, ICICI, Kotak Mahindra and American Express. For example, you may get a discount on your billing amount if you pay through net banking. Now, that is unique!
You can also search for schemes from your favourite store. Once you decide on a coupon, you need to click on it and you are redirected to the main website of the e-retailer and can shop to your heart’s delight! You can also be asked to copy the coupon code and can use to get a great deal on an online store.

I have seen online coupon websites before but I am impressed that zoutons.com does not charge any money for the coupons. And the offers are absolutely genuine. Plus it only takes a few seconds to get your coupon. What more does a shopper want?

I need a pair of headphones. I better get those Flipkart coupons today!!

9 Essentials For The Plus Size Wardrobe!

Hello to all those curvy women out there!

Here are some wardrobe basics that are an absolute must for you.

1. Well-fitted pair of denims

A good pair of jeans can really boost your entire look. It may take several tries, but it is absolutely essential that you put in that extra effort to buy a pair that is suited to your body shape.

2. Kaftan tops

These are stitched at the sides. The loose fabric at the sleeves hides the problem areas. Just ensure that you pair these with well fitting jeans or leggings.

3. Super cute jackets

Jackets can add glamour to an otherwise dull outfit. Find a jacket that suits your body. For example, a person who is not very tall should wear a cropped jacket to create better body proportion. A jacket that stops at the hip will actually cut the body into half.
